The advanced practitioner would carry out additional or specialist responsibilities in the provision. They may also act up for the manager in their absence. The deputy manager would be the person responsible for deputising for the manager in directing and organising the effective running of the setting/ provision. The deputy manager may be the “person in charge”.

Qualifications gained outside of Wales

Workers moving to Wales who hold a qualification recognised by the Department of Education (England), the Northern Ireland Social Care Council or Scottish Social Service Council should complete aspects of the All Wales Induction Framework for Early Years and Childcare that are relevant to their role and the setting.

However, employers should ensure that any other UK qualification meets the criteria set out in this Qualification Framework before accepting it for employment.

Induction requirements

Managers who are new to the setting or organisation should complete relevant parts of the All Wales induction framework for early years and childcare for managers.

All staff should receive an induction that includes health and safety, and child protection policies and procedures, during their first week of employment.
