Registered childminders are childcare professionals who provide care and education for children up to the age of 12 years within domestic premises that is not the child’s own home for more than two hours per day for reward.
Other requirements
Anyone who proposes to act as a childminder must be registered with Care Inspectorate Wales.
Qualifications gained outside of Wales
England:

CACHE Preparing to Work in Home-based Childcare
No additional learning required.
Northern Ireland:
No additional learning required. The qualification is the same for Northern Ireland and Wales.
Scotland:
There is no formal recognised route at present.
Induction requirements
Practitioners who are new to the early years and childcare sector or new to an organisation should complete the All Wales Induction Framework for Early Years and Childcare.
