Service regulations require that “the service provider must ensure that at all times a sufficient number of suitably qualified, trained, skilled, competent and experienced staff are deployed to work at the service”.

The suitable qualifications are included on this framework.

  1. City and Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice (603/6889/5)

Qualifications gained outside of Wales

England and Northern Ireland:

  1. City and Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice (603/6889/5)

This qualification is significantly smaller than the independent advocacy qualification developed for Wales. Therefore, Independent Mental Capacity Advocates who hold the City and Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification would be expected to complete the relevant pathway and legislation sections of the competency framework for their new role.

Scotland:

There are no identified qualifications for Scotland.

Induction requirements

All employers have a responsibility to make sure their new workers receive a suitable induction using this induction framework. Workers may be new to the role, organisation or sector.
